Inwood, NY - August 10, 2014 - According to detectives, Melisa Harris, 31, of 456 Beach 40th Street, Far Rockaway and her 41 year old female passenger were operating a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle west on Sheridan Boulevard when she lost control and struck a telephone pole. The operator suffered head/ facial trauma, a right wrist fracture, a right femur fracture and was transported to Jamaica hospital in a Nassau County Police Ambulance for treatment. Melissa Harris was pronounced deceased by a staff physician at 4:15 am. The female passenger suffered a concussion and was transported by the Inwood Fire Department to a local area hospital for treatment of her injuries. She is listed in stable condition. The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check. There is no apparent criminality. The investigation is ongoing.
