People's United Bank in West Islip Robbed

West Islip, NY - August 9th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police detectives are investigating a bank robbery that occurred today at a People’s United Bank located inside a supermarket in West Islip.

A man entered the bank, located inside the Stop & Shop supermarket at 400 Union Blvd., West Islip, at 3:00 p.m., approached a teller, and displayed a note demanding cash. The teller complied with the demand and gave the suspect cash from the drawer. The man fled.  

The robber is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, 30 to 40-years-old, with a lean to medium build. He had a fair complexion and facial hair. He was wearing a baseball hat, dark clothing, and white sneakers.
