Motorcyclist Seriously Injured After Crashing into Vehicle in Sayville

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist today in Sayville.

The Passat and the motorcycle were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.

Sayville, NY - August 7, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist today in Sayville.

Daniel Lumley was operating a 2010 Harley Davidson northbound on Foster Avenue in Sayville at approximately 11:30 a.m. Lumley struck a 2014 Volkswagen Passat after the driver of the sedan turned left into a driveway and attempted to make a three-point-turn.

Lumley, 52, of Sayville, was airlifted by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in serious condition. The driver of the Volkswagen, Vito Ameruoso, 77, of Sayville, was not injured.

The Passat and the motorcycle were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
