Rocky Point, NY, August 2013 – On August 6, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker continued the Summer Concert Series with the 16 piece big band ensemble Swingtime Big Band Authentic Swing in Living Color, in downtown Rocky Point. The big band performed for hundreds of community residents with swing era classic of the 1930s and 1940s.  Concert goers danced the lindy to songs made famous by Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, and Glenn Miller.

“I’m happy to be hosting the Summer Concert Series with the Rocky Point VFW once again,” said Legislator Anker. “It’s wonderful to see three generations enjoy the beautifully performed classic music. Young children were enjoying the concert as much as our senior attendees. Music connects family and community, and that’s what the summer concert series are about.”

The Summer Concert Series will continue on Tuesday evenings throughout the month of August. All shows are held at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Rocky Point and begin promptly at 7pm. Concert attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items for donation to Long Island Cares, The Harry Chapin Food Bank. For information regarding the Summer Concert Series, please call Legislator Anker’s office at 631-854-1600.
