NCPD to Participate in National Night Out

Nassau County, NY - August 5, 2014 - County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Acting Police Commissioner Thomas C. Krumpter announced today that the Nassau County Police Department will be participating in the “31st  Annual National Night Out” a unique crime/drug prevention event on Tuesday August 5, 2014.
 
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:
  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
National Night Out Event Schedule for Nassau County
 
1st PCT Veterans Memorial Park, East Meadow Ave & Prospect Ave., East Meadow, 1900-2100 hours.  Legislator Norma Gonsalves will be in attendance. Commanding Officer & additional PO’s will discuss crime prevention & other Department programs.  
 
Cow Meadow Park, Main St., Freeport, 1900-2100 hours.  Legislators Abrahams, Denenberg and Scannell will be in attendance.  1st pct. Supervisor & additional PO’s will discuss crime prevention & other Department programs.  
 
Uniondale Fire House, 154 Uniondale Ave., Uniondale, 1800-2100 hours.
This is an additional location that has been added by Legislators Abrahams, Denenberg and Curran. Lt. Fitzgerald will be on hand to discuss Police-Community issues
 
2nd PCT N&S Cruise Night, Audrey Avenue Oyster Bay, 1800-2100 hours.
Officer Paul Lamonaca and Deputy Inspector Johnsen will attend. PO Steven Zacchia, PIO, will also be in attendance with one of the antique police vehicles.
 
3rd PCT N&S Town Square, Veterans Memorial Park, Prospect Ave. East Meadow
1900-2130 PO Mosesso, crime/drug prevention event with members of the 1st & 3rd Precincts. Program will be geared towards Child Safety. Legislator  Norma Gonzales will be in attendance.
 
Kelleher Field, Williston Park, 1800-2130 hours, PO Sikorski
Children’s Ride for a Safer Williston Park parade, Broad St & Brown St. Assembly 1830, parade 1900. The Neighborhood Watch Block Captains Meeting will be held at Kelleher Field upon completion of the parade.  
 
Bunky Reid Park, New Cassel, 1700-2030 hours, PO Atkin & (1) 
Supervisor, (3) additional PO’s to be assigned. Parade start Salvation Army, 992 Prospect Ave, New Cassel, proceed west on Prospect Ave, south on Urban Avenue, west on Broadway and turn into Bunky Reid Park.  Parade assemble 1700 & begin at 1730 hours. End of parade at Bunky Reid Park, there will be a fair beginning 1800 hours. The detail Supv & PO’s remain at 
park for fair. 
 
Jonathan L. Ielpi Firefighters Park, Grace Ave., Great Neck Plaza, 1800-2130 hours,
PO Chuchul & Anastasis. Village of Great Neck Plaza, Music in the Park  Festival in the park. Mayor Jean Celendar & her staff from the Village of Great Neck Plaza. In addition, we have extended invitations to Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judith Bosworth and Nassau County Legislator Ellen Birnbaum.
 
4th PCT S Cedarhurst Park, Cedarhurst and Summit Avenues, 1800-2200 hours.  Sgt. Moulds-Olsen & two PO’s will attend with Crime Prevention literature for distribution. Additionally, Canine will perform a brief demonstration. Mounted will attend if available.
 
4th PCT N Green Acres Mall , 1900-2100 hours Sgt. Grim & PO’s will be at with Legislator Solages. Additional Officers will be at Dutch Broadway School with Assemblywoman Solages, providing crime prevention literature. 
 
7th PCT John Burns Park, Merrick Road, Massapequa, 1800-2300, Town of Oyster Bay Summer Concert.  Sgt. Howell & PO Appice will distribute pamphlets and other items prepared by Community Affairs such as Crime Prevention Awareness
