Two Women Arrested After Home Burglary to Take Back Dog Given Away

Hicksville, NY - August 2, 2016 - The Second Squad report the details of the arrest of two females for a Burglary that occurred on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 6:25 p.m. in Hicksville.

According to detectives, Jaime Grant-Hewson, 35, of Ronkonkoma, had given her dog, a Jack Russel Terrier, to the female victim, 50, two years ago due to a hardship. Grant-Hewson asked for the dog to be returned, but the victim refused.

On Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 6:25 p.m. Grant-Hewson and co-defendant Samantha Leo, 35 of Islip went to the victim’s residence in Hicksville and while Leo remained in the vehicle, Grant-Hewson pried a front window open to enter the home and removed the dog.

Second Squad detectives conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of both defendants on August 2, 2016. The dog was returned to the victim by detectives.

Hewes and Leo are both charged with Burglary 2nd degree. They will be arraigned Tuesday August 2, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
