Smith Point Beach Movie Night Returns

Written by Long Island News & PR  |  01. August 2013

July 31, 2013 - Smith Point, NY - The 2nd annual movie night at Smith Point’s Beach Hut will be held on Thursday, August 15 at 9pm. Last year’s show, the first ever, was a huge success. The movie will continue to be offered for free to the public, and this year’s movie is Dr. Seuss’s “The Lorax”. The concept to offer a movie on a big screen at Smith Point Beach was originally proposed by the “Shirley Community Advocates” in 2012. Legislator Kate Browning (WF-Shirley) worked with the Beach Hut operator to bring the proposal to fruition and it was well attended.

“The community’s response to last year’s showing of “Rio” at the Smith Point Beach Hut was extremely positive,” stated Legislator Kate Browning. “Families loved it so much we decided to do it again. I want to thank our Beach Hut operator for making it a free event and the Shirley Community Advocates for coming up with the idea. Please spread the word and enjoy the show!”

It is recommended that families arrive 30 minutes before the start of the movie. Popcorn and other concessions will be available for purchase at the Beach Hut. For more information please contact Legislator Browning’s office at 631-852-1300.
