Brooklyn Man Arrested in Levittown for DWI, Firearm and Drug Possession, Cops Say

NCPD: Rivera Efrain, 35, was discovered by officers asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle in a gas station after receiving 911 calls of his alleged erratic driving.

NCPD reports the arrest of Rivera Efrain of Brooklyn, 35, for DWI and Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Saturday, July 29, in Levittown.

Levittown, NY - July 31, 2017 - The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man for Driving While Intoxicated and Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2:29 am in Levittown.
 
According to police, 911 received a call for a 2017 black Nissan Maxima driving erratically eastbound on Old Jerusalem Road in Levittown. Second Precinct Officers responded to the scene and found the Maxima stopped at a gas station located at the intersection of Wantagh Avenue and Old Jerusalem Road. The driver was asleep behind the wheel.  
 
After several attempts to wake the driver, it was observed by officers that the driver had glassy blood shot eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of an alcohol beverage on his breath.  Defendant Rivera Efrain, 35, was placed under arrest. Subsequent to the arrest, a loaded North American Arms .22 caliber mini revolver and two (2) clear bags of a greenish brown leafy substance believed to be marijuana was recovered inside the vehicle. 
 
Defendant Efrain is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd and 3rd Degrees, Criminal Possession of Marijuana 5th Degree and Driving While Intoxicated.  He was arraigned on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
