Islip Terrace, NY - July 30, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Islip Terrace on Saturday, July 28, 2018.
Julio Resto was attempting to cross westbound Sunrise Highway, west of Connetquot Avenue, when he was struck by a 2002 Toyota, driven by Francis Scheyder. Resto, 32, of Rhode Island, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Scheyder, 54, of Bohemia, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for evaluation.
The Toyota was impounded for a safety check.
