Woman Arrested for Driving with 29 License Suspensions on LIE

Dix Hills, NY - July 28, 2016 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a Deer Park woman for driving with 29 license suspensions on the Long Island Expressway this morning.

Highway Patrol Officer Todd Collier observed the driver of a 2001 Toyota Sienna using a cell phone while driving on the westbound LIE between exits 53 and 52 at approximately 7:30 a.m. When Officer Collier ran a check on the license of the driver, Erica Laso, he discovered it had been suspended 29 times on 11 dates dating back to January 2012 for Failing to Answer or Appear or Failure to Pay Fines for previous traffic tickets.

Laso, 33, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, a felony, and issued a summons for distracted driving. Laso was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
