LIRR Plans Overnight Track Maintenance Work This Weekend

Buses replace trains between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma on Sat., Aug. 1 from 12:45 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. and between Deer Park and Ronkonkoma on Sun., Aug. 2 from 12:45 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.

Long Island, NY - July 28, 2015 - Buses will replace train service for track work between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma this Saturday, August 1 from 12:45 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. and between Deer Park and Ronkonkoma on Sunday, August 2 from 12:45 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. During these overnight hours, the LIRR will be carrying out a rail grinding project to restore the profile and remove irregularities from worn rail to extend its life and improve the ride of trains along that stretch of track. Ronkonkoma Branch customers traveling during overnight hours this weekend should know the following:

Saturday, August 1 from 12:45 a.m. until 5:30 a.m.

Farmingdale to Ronkonkoma

Eastbound

Customers will board a bus at Hicksville for stations Wyandanch through Ronkonkoma. Bethpage and Farmingdale customers will stay on the train to their station. They should expect up to 24 minutes of extra travel time.

Westbound

Customers will board a bus at stations Ronkonkoma through Wyandanch for service to Hicksville where train service will resume. Bethpage and Farmingdale customers will board their regularly scheduled train at their stations. Local buses will be provided for station to station travel between Hicksville and Ronkonkoma. Expect up to 40 minutes extra travel time.

Sunday, August 2 from 12:45 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.

Deer Park to Ronkonkoma

Eastbound

Customers will board a bus at Deer Park for stations Brentwood through Ronkonkoma and should expect up to an additional 27 minutes travel time. Local buses will be provided for station to station travel.

Westbound

Customers will board a bus at stations Ronkonkoma through Brentwood up to 27 minutes earlier than normal for Deer Park where connecting train service will resume to points west. Local buses will be provided for station to station travel.
