Suffolk Authorities Report Man Found Dead in Patchogue River

Patchogue, NY - July 27, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Detectives are investigating the death of a man who was found floating in the Patchogue River, in Patchogue, on Thursday, July 26, 2018.
 
Police officers, responding to a 911 call, discovered the body of Salvatore C. Deforca, 30, of Patchogue, floating in the Patchogue River near the end of Crescent Street at approximately 8:10 p.m. Officers from the Marine Bureau responded to assist with the recovery of the body.
 
The death does not appear to be criminal in nature.
 
An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.
