Island Park, NY - July 20, 2017 - Fourth Squad detectives report the details of an arrest for a Burglary that occurred on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:05 P.M. in Island Park.
 
According to detectives, Witold Buczkowski, 51, of  Parma  Road  had an argument with the female victim, 47, about how she would pay her rent. The dispute escalated to a physical altercation where the defendant punched the victim in the face and body multiple times. 
 
The victim fled into her apartment, locked the door and called police. Buczkowski followed her and tried to gain entry into victim’s apartment by kicking the door. The victim suffered swelling, bruising and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The defendant was arrested without incident.
 
Defendant Buczkowski was charged with Burglary 2nd degree (attempt) and Assault 3rd degree. He was arraigned on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at First District Court in Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
