Nassau County to Announce Increase in Heat Related Illnesses and Warn of Power Outages During an Increase in Temperatures Today

Mineola, NY - July 27, 2016 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano, Commissioner of Health Dr. Lawrence Eisenstein and Nassau University Medical Center President/CEO Dr. Vic Politi, will join together at a press conference today - Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:30am to discuss an increase in heat related illnesses at the hospital this week due to the higher temperature. From dehydration and heat exhaustion to heat stroke, high temperatures and humidity levels can lead to serious illness and even the risk of death.

They will also be warning local residents of possible power outages due to the high demand of electricity for air conditioners and other devices. Nassau County Cooling Centers will remain open as the heat wave continues.
