Man Arrested for $10,000 in Larcenies from Bay Shore JC Penney, Cops Say

Bay Shore, NY - July 26, 2018 - Suffolk County Police arrested a man for committing a string of larcenies from a store in Bay Shore this year.
 
Following a several month investigation, Third Precinct Crime Section Officer Joseph Bianco arrested Karl Holmes for numerous thefts of home goods items from JC Penney, located at 1701 Sunrise Highway. The thefts totaled approximately $10,000.  
 
Holmes was taken into custody by First Precinct Officer’s Christian Vasquez and Louis Scarpati for an outstanding Parole Violation warrant. While running a background check on Holmes, Officers Vasquez and Scarpati discovered he was wanted by Officer Bianco as a suspect in these larcenies.  
 
Holmes, 63, of Bay Shore was charged with 11 counts of Petit Larceny, Trespass and a Parole Violation. The investigation is ongoing and it is expected Holmes will be charged with numerous additional counts of Petit Larceny and Trespass, possibly dating back to 2015.  
 
Holmes is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip, on July 26.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
