A man was asleep in his bedroom in a Bohemia trailer park when he was attacked with a mallet, by a known suspect, causing a head injury to the victim at 8:45 p.m. The victim’s mother arrived at the residence and attempted to transport her son to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. During the assault at the victim’s residence, the suspect, Joseph Ferraro, 27, telephoned the father of the victim stating that he would further injure the son if the father did not comply with his demand for a large amount of cash. The father withdrew the cash from an ATM and then drove to Ferraro’s home, located at 26 Mindres Ave., Brentwood, where he delivered the money to Ferraro.
