Officials: Man Arrested for Armed Robbery of North Lawrence Restaurant

North Lawrence, NY - July 25, 2018 - Fourth Squad Detectives report the details of the arrest of a Far Rockaway man for Robbery which occurred on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 7:15 a.m. in North Lawrence.
 
According to detectives, the 36 year old female victim was working at Petencito Latin Grill at 250 Lawrence Avenue, when the defendant, Adam Berardino, 34, entered the store and lifted his shirt, displaying a black handled knife. The defendant then walked behind the counter and demanded cash, while pushing and then striking the victim in the back of her head with a closed fist. The victim suffered substantial pain to her head. 
 
The defendant then took an undetermined amount of cash from the register and fled the scene in an unknown direction. After an investigation the responding officers located and placed the defendant into custody in an abandoned house on Lawrence Avenue. The black handled knife was recovered with the defendant at the time of arrest. The victim refused medical attention. No other injuries reported at this time.
 
Defendant Adam Berardino is charged with two counts of Robbery, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Trespass. He will be arraigned on Wednesday July 25, 2018 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
