Tobay Beach Swimmers Ordered Out of Water After Sharks Sighting

Massapequa, NY - July 23, 2015 - The Public Information Office reports the details of an Unusual Incident involving sharks observed in Massapequa on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11:49 am.

According to police, Seventh Precinct Police Officers along with the assistance of the Nassau County Aviation Unit responded to a call for sharks spotted in the waters off Tobay Beach. Pilots were able to visually confirm that two six foot long sharks were seen fifteen feet  from the shoreline swimming in a easterly direction towards Gilgo Beach in Suffolk County. All Tobay Beach swimmers were ordered out of the waters until later deemed safe. There were no injuries reported.
