Franklin Square Man Arrested for Driving While Intoxicated; Subject has Multiple DWI Priors, Authorities Report

Merrick, NY - July 21, 2017 - The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Franklin Square man for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 8:00 pm in Merrick.
 
According to officers, Joseph Jacaruso, 51, was operating a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer west on Merrick Road. The Blazer was unable to maintain a traffic lane and almost collided with other vehicles traveling on the roadway. The officer initiated a Vehicle and Traffic stop.
 
It was determined Jacaruso had been drinking and was placed under arrest without incident. No injuries were reported.
 
During the investigation it was revealed the defendant has three (3) prior convictions of Driving While Intoxicated and one (1) prior conviction of Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol.
 
Defendant Jacaruso is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggrivated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st degree, Reckless Driving, Failure to Stay in a Single Lane and Unlicensed Operator.  He will be arraigned Friday, July 21, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
