East Patchogue, NY - July 20, 2015 - The Suffolk County SPCA has charged a East Patchogue woman with Animal Cruelty for allegedly not caring for her dog properly, resulting in its death.

Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk SPCA said that Madison Cammarata, 22, of East Patchogue was charged with Misdemeanor Animal Cruelty by Suffolk County SPCA  Investigator yesterday.  The case stems from a call that the SCSPCA received from the Guardians of Rescue in May that they had a dog which was surrendered to them that appeared to be starving.  The dog, a 7 year old Pit Bull named Duncan, was found to have foreign objects in its stomach as determined by a veterinarian.

Gross said that because of Duncan's poor prognosis he had to be humanely euthanized.   Cammarata is due back in First District Court on September 17th.

A criminal charge is an accusation.  A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
