Woman Arrested for Leandra’s Law Following East Northport Vehicle Crash, Cops Say

Suffolk County Police arrested a Medford woman for driving while intoxicated with her son in the vehicle after fleeing the scene of a motor vehicle crash in East Northport earlier in the day.
 
Susan Striplin was driving a 2007 GMC Yukon SUV southbound on Daly Road when she sideswiped a 2013 Mercedes Benz Sprinter van at the intersection of Phyllis Drive in East Northport. Striplin fled the scene in her vehicle and was stopped on Daly Road, near Jericho Turnpike, and placed under arrest. Striplin’s 11-year-old son was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash and subsequent arrest. No injuries were reported in the crash.
 
Striplin, 43, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years or Younger (Leandra’s Law) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, as well as Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
 
Striplin was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
