East Rockaway Woman Arrested for Embezzling Funds from Employer, Cops Say

East Rockaway, NY - July 17, 2018 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of an East Rockaway woman for Grand Larceny on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 2:18 p.m. in East Rockaway.
 
According to Fraud and Forgery Unit Detectives, Denise Moreno, 37, worked for an Ophthalmologist located on South Oyster Bay Road in Hicksville and did steal checks of an undisclosed amount from the business. She altered computer records, endorsed the checks so they could be deposited into her joint bank account and removed funds for her personal use. The period of theft was from approximately July of 2016 and continued through November of 2017. The defendant was placed under arrest at her residence without incident.
 
Denise Moreno is charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree, Falsifying Business Records 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 2nd Degree.  She will be arraigned on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in First District Court, Hempstead.
