NCPD: Woman Arrested in Lido Beach After Intentionally Crashing Her Vehicle into Police Cruiser, Injuring Two Officers

Lido Beach, NY - July 17, 2017 - Fourth Precinct officers report the arrest of a Jamaica, Queens woman for an incident that occurred on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 7:49 pm in Lido Beach.
 
According to officers, Keitora Smith, 23, while in the parking lot of 620 Lido Blvd., became involved in a verbal altercation with her friends, entered her car, began to drive in a reckless manner hitting and mounting the curbing causing her tire to become flat. She then drove at her friends and intentionally ran over the foot of one of her acquaintances causing the 24 year old female to sustain pain and minor bleeding. Smith then exited the parking lot and was observed by officers on the roadside of Lido Blvd. outside her car. 
 
When officers approached Smith, she became irrational, got back into her car and drove off in a reckless manner. She then entered the parking lot of Nickerson Beach where officers again confronted her. Smith then intentionally drove into one of the police patrol cars causing two officers, who were still inside, to sustain knee, ankle and neck pain. Smith was removed from her vehicle and after initially resisting arrest she was eventually placed into custody. Officers observed Smith to be in an intoxicated condition and she was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
 
Both officers, who sustained injuries when Smith collided with their police car, were also transported to an area hospital for treatment.
 
Smith is charged with three (3) counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, six (6) counts of Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving, Driving While Intoxicated and numerous traffic violations. She will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 7/17/2017.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
