Mastic Beach, NY - July 16, 2015 - Students in Tony Mecca’s and Karen Hennessey’s physical education classes at Tangier Smith Elementary School in the William Floyd School District recently participated in the American Heart Association (AHA) “Jump Rope for Heart” fundraiser, in which they raised $3,140 in May to benefit AHA research and efforts to reduce death caused by heart disease and stroke. One student, Megan Walbrecker, who will be entering fifth grade in September, raised nearly $1,475 of the total on her own. Congratulations to the students and their teachers on raising so much money and awareness for a good cause!
