Woman Dies in Moriches Boat Crash, According to Authorities

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a boat crash that killed a woman east of Moriches Inlet in Moriches on Sunday, July 14.
 
A 50-foot Sea Ray with three people aboard was traveling westbound a quarter mile off Cupsogue Beach at Cupsogue Beach County Park when it struck a drifting boat broadside with a married couple aboard at 6:28 p.m. The man jumped from the boat, and the woman was thrown into the water.
 
The woman was pulled from the water by the Coast Guard and taken to the Coast Guard station where she was pronounced dead by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Her name is being withheld pending notification of family members. The man was rescued by passing boaters and was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries.
 
Both boats were impounded for safety checks.
