Ridge Man Drowns in Backyard Pool, Suffolk Officials Report

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the drowning death of a man in Ridge.
 
Seventh Precinct officers responded to a residence on Giant Oak Road after a family member called 911 to report finding 24-year-old Anthony Spero unresponsive in the above ground pool. A family member pulled Spero from the water and began CPR until police and Ridge Rescue arrived.
 
Spero, who lives at the home, was transported by ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
