Deer Park Man Arrested for Selling Stolen Bike on Letgo App, Cops say

Suffolk County Police arrested a Deer Park man for stealing a bicycle from a residence in Babylon and selling it on the Letgo app.  
 
After receiving a complaint from a victim who found his gold BMX Volume bicycle being sold for $80 on the Letgo app, First Precinct Crime Section officers conducted an undercover operation and arranged to meet a person in front of 32 Franklin Ave., Deer Park, to purchase the bicycle. After the purchase was complete, officers discovered the bike was the one reported stolen from a Babylon residence on July 11.
 
Marquis Devonne Hawkins, 22, was charged with Petit Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree and an active warrant for Domestic Aggravated Harassment 2nd Degree.   
 
Hawkins was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
Police are reminding all residents to lock up their bicycles when leaving them unattended. 
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
