King Quality Roofing and Siding Donates Windows to Port Washington VFW Post 1819, Helping Reopen Recreation Area for Veterans
Soon, members of the Port Washington Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1819 will have a welcoming place to unwind, connect and build camaraderie, thanks to King Quality Roofing and Siding. The Long Island-based contractor donated and installed five new basement windows, helping the post reopen its recreation space for local veterans.
Built in 1933, the VFW building had old, single-pane windows in the basement that let in cold air and water, leaving the space unusable. On May 13, King Quality stepped in to provide and install the new windows, making the basement functional again. Now dry and comfortable, the space features a bar, ping pong table, billiards and a dart board, where members can soon relax and socialize after meetings.
Post 1819 Trustee Jerry Tedeschi said the refreshed space will help the VFW retain current members and attract new ones, both essential to continuing the post’s mission of supporting veterans and serving the community.
“This donation has made a real difference,” said Tedeschi. “We once again have a basement where members can gather and enjoy each other’s company. This renewed space builds camaraderie, makes the post more welcoming and will help us grow our membership.”
Tedeschi had his own roof replaced by King Quality a few years ago and reached out when the post needed help with the windows. King Quality CEO Jeff Brett, whose family has deep ties to the military, immediately agreed to help.
“At King Quality, we’re proud to support the veterans who’ve served our country,” said Brett. “My grandfather helped start a VFW in Port Jefferson Station after World War I and my father served in the Navy during World War II. It’s an honor for me and the whole King Quality team to support local VFWs like Post 1819.”
VFW Post 1819 plays an important role in the Port Washington community. The post offers support to veterans in need, including assistance with housing, benefits and health care. It also leads Honor Guard ceremonies at funerals and on holidays like Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
This windows donation is part of King Quality Cares, the company’s charitable arm that supports local charities and community organizations across Long Island.
