Pokemon Go Player is Victim of Armed Robbery

Lake Ronkonkoma, NY - July 14, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating an armed robbery in which a cell phone was stolen from a Pokemon Go player.

A 19-year-old man was walking along Lake Shore Drive in Lake Ronkonkoma playing the game Pokemon Go on his Apple i-phone yesterday at approximately 5 p.m. when a gray 4-door sedan occupied by at least three people pulled up alongside him. An unknown male in the front passenger seat told the victim to give him his phone. When the victim did not immediately comply, the passenger in the rear seat of the vehicle displayed a handgun and demanded the cell phone. The victim handed the phone to him and then fled.

This investigation is ongoing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 of call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
