Merrick, NY - July 14th, 2015 - The reception by Suzie Alvey and Theodora Zavala for the art show, "Preserve-ing Nature" at the Merrick Public Library was successful. Visitors and friends stopped by to meet the artists and view the 29 oil paintings and watercolors they have on display. The paintings feature scenes they painted at the Norman J. Levy Preserve and Long Island landscapes. Several paintings were sold at the opening and more are available for sale during the show that can be viewed until Friday, July 31st.

Zavala and Alvey were honored when the Town of Hempstead Supervisor, Kate Murray, Town of Hempstead Councilman Gary Hudes and Councilwoman Erin King Sweeney visited with them at the show. A special thanks goes to Angela Carpone of the Merrick Library for her helpful assistance.

Suzie Alvey and Theodora Zavala have been painting together for more than ten years. They are both accomplished artists with specialties in landscapes and portraits.

The show is at the Merrick Public Library, located at 2279 Merrick Avenue in Merrick. The show can be viewed during regular library hours in the Gallery (when there are no scheduled programs).
