SCPD: Bicyclist Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash
Melville, NY - July 3, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a bicyclist in Melville yesterday afternoon.
Bruce Pye was riding a bicycle heading eastbound on Old Country Road when he collided with a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe that was attempting to make a left onto Tuxedo Drive at approximately 3:05 p.m.
Pye, 33, of Farmingdale, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center, in East Meadow, in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries on July 13.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Salvatore Ceravolo, 48, of Melville, was uninjured, and stayed at the scene.
