North Babylon Man Arrested for Allegedly Stalking, Exposing Himself to Children

Wyandanch, NY - July 11, 2017 - Suffolk County Police First Precinct Squad detectives conducted an investigation after the father of two young girls reported that a man had been stalking girls in his Wyandanch neighborhood repeatedly between July 5 and July 9. 
 
The man drove through the area slowly, he stopped on repeated occasions staring at young girls for long periods of time. On one occasion, he attempted to entice a girl into his vehicle with a bag of chips. In another instance, he exposed himself.
 
The suspect, Jeffrey Bernstein, 74, of North Babylon, has been arrested and charged with three counts of Stalking 2nd Degree, three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and one count of Public Lewdness. He is being held at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 11.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
