DMV Reopens Modernized Hauppauge Office

Written by Chris Boyle  |  10. July 2025

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles has reopened its Hauppauge office following extensive renovations and upgrades, which complement the agency’s multi-year, department-wide technology system modernization. The office, located at 250 Veterans Memorial Highway, is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“We are excited to welcome Long Islanders back to our Hauppauge office,” said DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder.  “We look forward to exceeding their expectations and shattering their perceptions of DMV with a much more welcoming space.”

The cosmetic improvements include new entrance and exit paths to ensure a smooth customer experience. Workstations have been reconfigured to streamline workflow, and new signage and navigational aids were added to the public areas.

This is the latest in a series of ongoing upgrades and relocations of DMV offices around the state, including locations in Harlem and White Plains. However, new office space is just part of the way DMV is driving New Yorkers forward.

Providing an exceptional customer experience whether in person, online or over the phone is one of DMV’s top priorities and is the driving force behind the agency’s ongoing modernization plan. As part of that plan, DMV is focused on simplifying processes for customers and employees; providing more ways for customers to interact with DMV and leveraging technology to operate more efficiently.

To date, the DMV has launched a redesigned website and improved the personalized online customer portal, added new online transactions, implemented a DMV Mobile Unit to better meet the needs of underserved New Yorkers, expanded online live chat options, introduced online pre-screening for some of the most complicated transactions, made it easier to access DMV records, and much more. DMV will continue to build on these improvements over the next four years.
