Bay Shore Woman Killed in Two Car Crash

Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a fatal two-car crash that killed a Bay Shore woman this afternoon.

Bay Shore, NY - July 8th, 2015 - Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a fatal two-car crash that killed a Bay Shore woman this afternoon.

Andrea Acosta, 22, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer in the HOV lane of the eastbound Long Island Expressway at approximately 4:10 p.m. As she approached exit 57, Acosta crossed over the HOV lane buffer and drove across an additional three lanes of travel.  Her vehicle struck a 2013 Hyundai that was in the far right lane of travel.

Acosta, of 2nd Ave., Bay Shore, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Casandra Carreon, 18, of Yarnell St., Brentwood, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was treated for serious injuries.

Francisco Ayaraca, 19, of Suffolk Ave., Brentwood, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Hyundai, Gregorio Pisciotti, 50, of Stahlman Lane, Patchogue, was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
