Massapequa Man Busted by NCPD After Allegedly Firing Handgun During Argument

The Seventh Squad reports the arrest of a Massapequa man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred in Massapequa.
 
According to detectives, police responded to a call for shots fired. Upon arrival two victims told police that they had been involved in a verbal argument with the defendant. During the argument the defendant, John Thompson, 49, stated he was going to kill the victims and pulled out a black handgun and fired two rounds into the ground near the victims. The defendant then went back into his apartment. After a thorough investigation responding officers did place the defendant into custody without incident. Officers did recover a loaded black hand gun and spent shell casings in close proximity to the incident, and they recovered a spent shell casing in the defendant’s rear pocket. No injuries were reported.
 
The defendant, John Thompson, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree-Loaded Firearm, Reckless Endangerment 1st degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree-Loaded Firearm outside home, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and two (2) counts of Menacing. The defendant was arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
