Hicksville, NY - June 29, 2016 - The light-hearted, humorous News 12 Long Island meteorologist Norm Dvoskin will be honored at a nonprofit fundraiser on Monday, July 18th at the Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course in Woodbury, NY. Dvoskin recently retired after years of on-air forecasting and levity. The golf-event will benefit CN Guidance & Counseling Services, a leader on Long Island in providing counseling and treatment to individuals and families facing depression, anxiety, other mental health disorders, and drug addiction.

“With his vibrant personality and uncommon style, Norm has brought much joy and happiness to many people across our community,” said CN Guidance CEO Jeffrey Friedman. “We want to honor Norm’s service to Long Islanders. He has been in our living rooms for four decades, bringing smiles to adults and children… and lifting their spirits – a priceless gift for so many of us.”

All proceeds of the 17th annual fundraising outing will support CN Guidance’s ability to help over 4,700 families and individuals address and overcome the challenges associated with mental health and/or substance use disorders, and is especially critical during a time when opioid use and mid-life depression have both increased in intensity and media visibility—resulting in increased demand for services.

The golf-outing event, which begins with an 11:30AM registration on the third Monday in July (7/18), features a 1PM tee-off time, a 5PM cocktail reception, a 6PM buffet dinner, raffle drawings, a live auction, and a 6:30PM presentation, including the honoring of Norm Dvoskin.  As in recent years, Jamie Stuart, the esteemed Emmy award-winning sports anchor for News 12 Long Island, will once again be the event emcee. Stuart has been an ongoing supporter of CN Guidance.

There are still sponsorship opportunities and a limited number of golfing spots available for those interested in having fun while supporting a critical cause. The event’s organizers invite all interested community members to contact CN Guidance at 516-822-6111 ext. 1253 for more information.
