New Owners at Swept Away in Bay Shore

Written by Lon Cohen  |  06. July 2021

New owners and a new chef have taken over Swept Away in Bay Shore and reopened this Spring, according to an article on GreaterBayShore. Things might seem familiar at the restaurant for now but changes are coming soon and they said that the food and drinks menus will be new.

Appetizers include P.E.I. muscles, with spring garden vegetables, piquillo peppers, white wine, in butter broth ($16), coconut shrimp cocktail, with ic cold poached coconut shrimp, HM Chamoy sauce, toasted coconut, and Thai green chile salt, ($18.50), calamari, with banana peppers, chimichurri, and roasted garlic aioli, ($15), and wings, in three styles: cool ranch dry rub, peruvian green, or housemade Buffalo ($15), among others.

They serve cold and hot lobster rolls (MP), a lobster bisque soup ($12), and a whole lobster (MP) or a Hawaiian chicken bibimbap, with crispy garlic chile chicken, fresh pineapple, scallions, rice, and toasted sesame seeds ($30). They also have a variety of handhelds served with french fries..

On Yelp, Myra M, from Setauket, said it was worth the trip.

“Sometimes it's worth the drive to find a gem,” she wrote. “The ambiance and decor is tasteful with a vintage/ coastal vibe, perfect for the seaside setting on the south shore of Long Island.”

From my understanding, Swept Away  was recently taken over with new ownership. Between the service, the food and the ambience, I feel confident that they will do very well. We will definitely be back!
