Update - July 10, 2015 - The beach closure for Lake Ronkonkoma Beach in the Town of Islip has been lifted, as recent water samples meet New York State standards.

Suffolk County, NY - July 6, 2015 - Lake Ronkonkoma Beach is closed again due to the finding of bacteria at levels that exceed New York State standards.

According to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. James Tomarken, bathing in water contaminated with bacteria can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
