Garden City, NY - July 5, 2016 - Nassau County Legislator - Public Safety Chair Dennis Dunn and Assemblyman Ed Ra, Member of New York State Heroin Task Force, will hold a  press conference with addiction and health experts today, Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM to discuss the heroin epidemic as number of overdose deaths triple.

Fatalities involving heroin use jumped from 3,036 in 2010 to 10,574 in 2014, at a rate faster than other illegal drugs, says the report by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Summer gives more free time and less adult supervision. June and July are considered high risk times for teenagers. This unsupervised freedom can lead to drug and alcohol abuse among teens and young adults.
