Hempstead Woman Arrested for Stabbing at Restaurant

Hempstead, NY - July 5, 2015 - The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead woman for Attempted Murder that occurred on July 5, 2015 at 3:30 a.m. in Hempstead.

According to detectives, on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at 3:30 a.m. a male victim, 32 years of age was inside the Miranda River Café, located at 221 Fulton Avenue when the defendant Elsa Marina Saravia-Martinez, 34, an employee, stabbed him in the abdomen with a kitchen knife. The victim was transported in a private auto to an area hospital where he underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition. Detectives located Saravia-Martinez at her residence and placed her under arrest without incident.

The defendant is charged with Murder 2nd degree (Attempt), Assault 1st degree, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th degree. She will be arraigned on Monday, July 6, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
