Governor Cuomo Directs Flags to Half-Staff on July 8th, 2013

Albany, NY - July 3, 2013 - Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has directed that flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff on July 8, 2013 in honor of a Barton soldier who died in Bagram, Afghanistan on June 28, 2013.

Army Sgt. Justin R. Rogers died from a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

"On behalf of all New Yorkers, I extend my condolences to the friends, family and fellow soldiers of Sergeant Rogers," Governor Cuomo said. "We mourn his loss, but will remember his service to our nation with pride."

Governor Cuomo has directed that the flags on all state buildings be lowered to half-staff in honor of and in tribute to our state's service members and those stationed in New York who are killed in action or die in a combat zone.
