SCPD: Shirley Man Arrested for Animal Cruelty After Three Dead Dogs Found in Vehicle

SCPD have arrested Carmine Dapruzzo of Shirley, 41, for animal cruelty.

Shirley, NY - July 4, 2018 - Suffolk County Police on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 arrested a Shirley man for animal cruelty after three dead dogs were discovered in his vehicle.
 
Seventh Precinct officers responded to the parking lot of 800 Montauk Highway in Shirley after two people observed six dogs, all Rottweilers, inside cages in a parked 1998 Ford Explorer at approximately 5:40 a.m. Three of the dogs were deceased and three surviving dogs were transported to the Brookhaven Town Animal Shelter for evaluation. It was determined the dogs were in the vehicle in excess of 11 hours.
 
The dogs’ owner, Carmine Dapruzzo, 41, was charged under the New York State Agriculture and Markets Law pertaining to the care of animals. Dapruzzo will be arraigned at a later date.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
