The Nassau County Police Department reports the details of a serious aided that occurred in Freeport.

 

According to detectives, officers were called to a construction site located on South Bayview Avenue, for two injured construction workers.

 

While working at the site, both male victims were standing on a scaffold that broke causing them to fall 25 feet to the ground. Alberto Mejia-Montoya of Hempstead, 17, suffered a skull fracture, sustaining multiple life-threatening injuries. The second male victim, 30, suffered a minor injury to his shoulder. 

 

Both victims were transported to an area hospital, where Mejia-Montoya later succumbed to his injuries.
