Cops: Queens Man in Custody in Connection with Overdose Death of Nassau County Resident
Massapequa Park, NY - July 3, 2018 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Queens man on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 12:15 a.m. in Massapequa Park.
According to Narcotics/Vice Squad Detectives, as part of Operation Natalie, Nassau County’s War Against Opioids, detectives were conducting an investigation of an overdose death. The investigation led to the arrest of defendant Edward Gillespie, 21, of Corona. He was arrested without incident in front of a residence on North Atlantic Ave in Massapequa Park.
The defendant did knowingly and unlawfully possess and sell a substance believed to be Heroin to a Nassau County Resident. After a lawful search incident to arrest, multiple wax paper envelopes containing a tan powdery substance believed to be Heroin, were found in the defendant’s possession.
Defendant Edward Gillespie has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. He was arraigned on July 1, 2018 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
The Nassau County Police Department reminds the public that as part of Operation Natalie and our Five Prong Approach of Education, Awareness, Enforcement, Treatment and Diversion, we will be continuing with our zero tolerance response to any and all illegal drug activity within the County.
