Police: Two Brothers Arrested in Connection with March Shooting Death of Hempstead Man

Valley Stream, NY - July 3, 2017 - Homicide Squad detectives report the arrests of two brothers in connection with a Homicide which occurred on Sunday, March 13, 2017 at 4:05 am in Valley Stream.
 
According to detectives, Fifth Precinct patrol officers responded to a call for a male shot outside a West Merrick Road residence. Upon arrival they located Shaleek Jenkins, 35, from Hempstead, who was transported to Franklin Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 5:10 am by hospital staff.
 
According to detectives, Mickey Corley, 37, of Lakeview, and his older brother, Christopher Corley, 40, of Nyack, after a subsequent investigation, were arrested on 7/2/2017 in Nyack, N.Y. without incident.
 
Mickey Corley is charged with Murder 2nd Degree and Christopher Corley is charged with Hindering Prosecution 1st Degree. Both will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 7/3/2017.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
