Woman Arrested for DWAI Following Motor Vehicle Crash in N. Lindenhurst

Deer Park, NY - July 3rd, 2014 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a Deer Park woman for driving while ability impaired by drugs after she was involved in a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist early this morning.

John Pesce was operating a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Route 109 in North Lindenhurst when he was struck by a 1996 Buick that was traveling southbound on Wellwood Avenue at 3:05 a.m.

The driver of the Buick, Jacklynn Barkey, 27, of 91 Pine Acres Boulevard, was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Pesce, 60, of Mastic, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for treatment of serious injuries.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
