Hempstead Shooting Leaves Man Dead and 3 Youths Injured, Investigation Continues

Hempstead, NY - July 1, 2015 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 6:06 pm in Hempstead.

According to detectives, the victim, Jonathan Wade, 45, of Hempstead was traveling westbound in a 2001 Lexus on Albermarle Road when he witnessed a disturbance and called 911.  The victim circled the block and when in front of 81 Albermarle Avenue several shots were fired striking the victim and the vehicle.  The victim left scene westbound to Henry Street where he struck a chain link fence and then into bleachers at the Hempstead Middle School striking three youths.  The youths were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The victim was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced deceased by a staff physician at 8:02 pm. 

The investigation is ongoing.
