Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a murder-suicide that occurred in Lake Grove.
A 911 caller told police that while conducting a wellness check a man had been found dead at an apartment on Hallock Road. Fourth Precinct officers responded to the scene. and found Varujan Manougian dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His wife, Barbara Manougian, was found in her vehicle that was parked directly outside of the apartment building a short time later with a gunshot wound.
It is believed that Varujan Manougian shot his wife before going inside and killing himself. There was no one else in the home at the time of the incident.
Varujan Manougian, 69, of Lake Grove, and Barbara Manougian, 67, of Lake Grove, were both pronounced dead on the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
