Legislator Browning Welcomes the Lamarche Family into Their New Home in Shirley

Shirley, NY - June 29, 2017 - Legislator Kate Browning (WF-Shirley) and her Chief of Staff Josh Slaughter celebrated with the Lamarche family as officials passed over the keys to their new home in Shirley. The home purchase was made possible through a partnership with Suffolk County and Habitat for Humanity.

The property at 7 Harrison Drive in Shirley was another tax foreclosure that Suffolk County transferred to the Village of Mastic Beach through its 72-h program. The program continues to prevent speculation on future rentals, and provides middle-class families with an opportunity to achieve the American dream. Had the property not been transferred to the Village, it would have been auctioned off to the highest bidder.

“It’s always a special day when we hand over the keys of a new home to a beautiful family,” stated Legislator Browning. “By increasing homeownership in our communities, we are ensuring a better quality of life in the surrounding area. I wish the Lamarche family the best of luck in their new home.”
