Suffolk County Police arrested a woman in Medford for Driving While Intoxicated under Leandra’s Law after she was involved in a crash with her three daughters in the vehicle, including a five-year-old and seven-year-old.

Victoria Villatoro was driving a 2018 Toyota RAV 4 eastbound on the Long Island Expressway between exits 62 and 63, when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an eastbound 2000 Jeep driven by Marilyn Morse, 47, of Bellport. Villatoro fled the scene in the Toyota, left the LIE at exit 64, and continued northbound on Route 112. Villatoro then turned into the parking lot of S & H Building Material Corporation, located at 3177 Route 112 in Medford, where she was arrested.

The children were released to the custody of their aunt and grandparents. Villatoro’s 22-year-old daughter, Diana Villatoro of Bay Shore, was also a passenger in the Toyota.

Villatoro, 44, of Bay Shore, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15-Years-Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), Leaving the Scene of an Accident (property violation), and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The vehicle was impounded.

Villatoro was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
